Class Info

The purpose of this section is to help parents and students to understand how classes are conducted and what is expected from students during the class periods and along the year.

The class information in this section will be organized in two main groups:

 

1. Materials, tools and teaching methodology used in lower school.

2. Materials, tools and teaching methodology used in upper school.

 

1. Materials,tools and teaching methodology used in lower school:

Methodology:

Students in lower schoool use a video tape system with daily lesson .This is where the new and learned subjects are tauch, practiced and mastered. It is the most important part of the class and where children associate image-meaning and sound.

The second step is working on oral and written drills, mostly done in the classroom.

Homework:

Athough not much homework is assigned, be aware of the importance of practicing at home. Reading, writting and listening to Spanish in all ways including watching tv and movies in Spanish is of vital importance. Allways have your children take home their Spanish materials on the same day they have a class. A 20 minute session at home, two or three times a week will help your child be successful.

This year every child will have a user name to access a special web page.They will have to use this page at home with a minimun time on the activities assigned included in their quia web class page.

Homework will be posted in their Quia,com page. Students will take quizzes and evaluations on line both in quia.com and Realidades on line book.

The grades will be shown in the web page used to take the evaluation and transferred to the online grade book.

Main chapter tests will be done in class . The students will have to make up those tests when the new test date is given, not later than 5 school days after the student returns to school.

All studenst are responsible for following up and doing their work online and must be up to date with the work, quizes and tests.

Materials:

Students should bring to class their orange binder, paper, two pencils, an eraser and color pencils if they have them available.

Fifth grade students should also take their Spanish-English dictionary which is mandatory. Forth grade students may bring it to class also if they have it.

 

2. Materials, tools and teaching methodology used in upper school:

Methodology:

Students in upper schoool use a textbook and a workbook with daily lessons.They will also have a link to online activities related to all the subjects learned and practice at school. Sixth and seventh grade have the on-line book which students must use to practice, study and work at home.

Eigth grade will have a quia account to work on-line, a textbook for main grammar lessons and reading materials given to them along the school year.

The new and learned subjects are tauch, practiced and mastered in the classroom enviroment. The student's performance, and active and positive participation in class are the key to success.

8th grade students will have a user name for Quia.com. Students should use this page to practice, review and study their Spanish material..They will have to use this page at home with a minimun time on the activities assigned included in their quia web class page.

Materials:

Students should bring to class their orange binder, paper, two pencils, an eraser, two BLACK OR BLUE eraseable pens and one red pen ONLY

Blue or black ERASEABLE pens will be used for notes and in written work.

No other color in pens/pencils will be accepted. Students will have to re-do the work.

Work should be neat and handwriting legible.

THE SPANISH - ENGLISH DICCTIONARY IS MANDATORY FOR UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS.
