Miss Garrett
Welcome to 4th Grade Gold!
I'm excited to be a part of the Christ the King
community for another year of fourth grade language arts,
math, religion, and science.
This is my second year not just at CKS but in Texas. I grew up
in Southern California, then spent four years at Thomas More College in New
Hampshire and (for a semester) Rome, studying an intensive Humanities core while
earning my B.A. in Biology. Graduate school took me even farther afield: to the John Paul II Institute in Melbourne, Australia, where I completed a Master's degree in Bioethics and fell in love with the wildlife. Before my time at CKS, I taught a range of subjects and ages at Live Oak Academy in San Jose, California. I love anything to do with words, and - though I enjoy teaching all subjects - I confess I have a special place in my heart for science. My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know my students and helping each of them grow into the unique person God made them to be.
It's been a delight getting to know the wonderful families, teachers, and staff of Christ the King, as well as exploring my new home state. Since arriving here from California, I have braved Texas toast and witnessed the beautiful springtime blue bonnets for the first time. I'm looking forward to sharing another wonderful year with you, full of saints and heroes, poetry and science experiments. Fourth grade is an exciting year, a time of increased responsibility and blossoming creativity. I am honored to share it with you!
