Class Info

Our primary goal in fourth grade is to instill in our students a lifelong love of learning. We want them to become independent, critical thinkers and to explore their roles as part of our classroom community. We also want to share with them the beauty of our Catholic Faith and the love and mercy of our Lord.

We will engage our students in many open ended projects that will allow for individual differences and learning styles. We will focus on the 4 "r's" of Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Reasoning.

Subject area content for the first quarter is outlined below:

Math

  • Mastery of basic facts in all 4 operations
  • Place value
  • Introduction to Algebraic thinking
  • Multi-digit Addition, Subtraction, and Multiiplication
  • Problem solving

Language Arts

  • Summer Reading Activities
  • Class Novel Shiloh
  • Spelling and Vocabulary assessed weekly
  • Reading and Writing Daily

Religion

  • Rosary every Monday morning
  • Saints - research, reports and presentations

Social Studies

  • Geography and Map Skills
  • Native Americans

Science

  • Scientific Skills
  • Periodic Table of the Elements
  • Stars, the Sun, and Weather
