6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Literature Curriculum Overview-

The curriculum for these classes is coordinated with a theme for the year. Students in all the classes will be reading novels, short stories (fiction and non-fiction), poetry, and drama for their grade level. The classes will be covering extensive vocabulary, learning the elements of literature, using graphic organizers, analyzing and writing about the various types of literature, researching authors, their works, and the literary and historical time period that classifies their writing, and the students will be participating in small and large group discussions.

6th grade literature class theme - "Community".

7th grade literature class theme - "Citizenship".

8th grade literature class theme - "Leadership".

Various novel and literature selection titles will be listed for the students in each class.
