Class Info
Your child will be given an in-depth packet describing class rules and expectations. It is expected that all students will follow class rules and expectations. Please review the handout that your child will receive the first week of school.
6th Grade
The textbook for this class is Prentice Hall History of our World.
Broadly, this class covers the major countries of the world. The students will be required to demonstrate knowledge of various aspects of the major world countries. Typically, students will need to master grade level objectives related to a country's geography, history, climate, and economy.
7th Grade
7th grade social studies will be divided into two semester sections this year.
Semester One
Texas History - Texas and Texans.
This class covers the history of Texas from prehistoric migration to North America to the republic and statehood. . Though this class is a survey course, the majority of our objectives focus on the separation of Texas from Mexico and the annexation of Texas into the United States. The San Antonio/Austin field trip will continue this year in the Spring.
Semester Two
American History - The American Republic to 1877.
This class will cover the British colonization of America to the American Revolution.
8th Grade
The textbook for this class is - Prentice Hall United States History.
This class covers early encoutners with Native Americans to the Civil War. Students will notice multiple similarities between the formation of Texas and the formation of the United States. The Taos field trip will occur in the fall. |
