Class Info

In the beginning weeks of school your child will be learing many new things including all the procedures necessary to make the school year productive. In the area of academics we will be doing the following:

Phonics- The alphabet will be reviewed and your child will learn the Saxon method of reading and coding short vowel words.

Reading-The teachers will be assessing the reading level that your child has achieved and appropriate groups will be formed.

Spelling- The children will show mastery of the alphabet and will be spelling consonant-vowel-consonant words.

Handwriting- The children will begin to learn cursive.

Math- Number concepts will be assesed and appropriate tasks will be assigned.

Religion- The children will be learing about the Creation and how God loves all of us.

Science- Safety issues will be covered including fire drills, playground safety, and school room safety.

Social Studies- School Community and School Safety will be the topics covered in the first weeks of school.

Guidance-Children will begin to explore their feelings and how to notice the feelings of others.
