Mrs. Rubino

I was born in Ohio, the fourth of eight children. I have a degree in art education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and am also certified to teach in the self-contained classroom, K-8. I began teaching art in the public schools of Ohio, but have taught in Texas for over two decades, including a five year stint as a third grade teacher. This is my seventh year at CKS.

The great thing about art is that it intersects all subject areas in one way or another. Art has been an essential component of religion and history. Its principles echo those in math and the sciences. Art is kin to music and literature. It is used for computer work; its principles help us design written as well as pictorial documents.

I believe in giving students a strong drawing and design background, as these are the skills they use in the "real world". The analytical and organizational skills, and the right brain thinking skills students learn in art class help them in the rest of their lives.
