Dear First Grade Parent,                                                                                                                      

         We’re so happy to have the privilege of having your child in our classrooms this year!   It’s going to be an exciting year filled with many fun-filled learning activities. 
 
             In this “First Day of School Information Letter” we do have requests to make of you that will help both your child and your child’s teacher to have a smooth productive day.  Please consider the following requests:

1. Pack the morning snack (marked with your child’s name) in a container that can be easily separated from the lunch kit.
2. Due to food allergies, please have your child wash his/her hands after eating breakfast. Also make sure the lunch kit is wiped so there are no food particles on the exterior.
3. Please review the lunch menu (found online ) so your child knows if he/she will be purchasing the plate lunch or bringing a lunch. 
4. The blue homework folder will need to come to school and will be returned home each day for the rest of the year. It is very important as a carrier of messages to and from school.
5. Homework will begin Monday, August 22. At the beginning of each week, you will need to access the "Homework Newsletter" that contains first grade class news, as well as, daily assignments. Please review all completed work, initialing the upper right corner of each sheet.  The completed homework is due on the last day of the school week.  It will not be accepted earlier.
6. You can locate the Homework Newsletter by going online to the CKS website and navigating to your child's teacher's page. Once you are there you will find a homework link that says "Weekly Homework Newsletter Page." Click the link and it will bring up the Homework Newsletter for the week. This page does not need to be submitted with the completed homework.
7. Please let us know about any carpool changes in an email or written note inserted in the blue folder.  We ask that any email notifications be sent by 12:00pm.   In an emergency call the school office.
